COLORED is a series of barbershop style portraits and interviews documenting young black people who have added color to their hair either through braid extensions, dye, wigs, or weave. I started this series about a year and a half ago in New York during my year 3 studio course. I was inspired by my own orange curls at the time, and all the black people in real life and the media I was seeing with colored hair, from friends to celebrities like Frank Ocean and Jaden Smith. Since then I’ve continued shooting the project in London and I plan to continue shooting.
