For this project I wanted to shed a light on the creative talent in the D.M.V. (D.C., Maryland, Virginia). In the past few years, the local underground art scene has expanded and become a tight knit community of friends who host events and create meaningful art. I chose to do a 80s prom theme because I think the vibrant colors, and styles of the 80s accurately represent the vibe of the community. I think of prom as like the celebration and accumulation of the hard work that you’ve put in during high school. The artists on this list are hard working, and I think that more artists in my area should be recognized for their talents and the waves [however significant they are] they are making. I’m really proud of the talent that is coming from my area, and the love and connection that is shared within the underground art scene. Each portrait that I took is meant to be a representation of that artist, they are all followed by a short Q&A to tell you about them.
